Arts of Korea: Histories, Challenges and Perspectives assembles the perspectives of art historians, critics, curators and museum directors from major universities and museums around the world, and traces the varied and dynamic experiences of Korean art acquisitions over the past century.
The book includes an essay on early collecting of Korean art by Shawn Eichman, Curator of Asian Art at the Honolulu Museum of Art. The Museum's Korean Room, established in 1917 when the Museum first opened to the public, is believed to be the oldest dedicated Korean gallery in the United States.
